UPDATE: Firefighters prevent homes from being destroyed in Riverton City
2013-10-27 17:37:04 | (0 Comments)
Firefighters from the York Park fire station in Kingston this afternoon successfully put out a massive fire in Riverton City, St Andrew, saving several homes that were threatened by the blaze.
The fire started from a mound of scrap consisting of tyres and other motor vehicle and equipment parts near homes along the bank of the Sandy Gully in the area, which was set ablaze. The fire caused many homes to be blanketed in thick black smoke.
At least one two-bedroom board house was damaged by the fire. Although the fire did not engulf the house, the owner Peter Davis claims the house was severely scorched by the fire and all the household items had been destroyed.
No one was in the house at the time of blaze.
