Probe launched into male juvenile centre fire

The Inspectorate Unit of the Ministry of National Security has launched a probe into the fire at the Metcalfe Street Juvenile Correctional Centre yesterday.
The Department of Correctional Services says five remandees at the all-male institution and three correctional officers were injured during fire.
The Department says they are being treated for injuries related to smoke inhalation.
It says the families of the minors have been notified of the incident.
According to the department, the fire was started by remandees who tampered with the electrical circuit at the facility.
And it says they used mattresses to block the entrance to the dorm and also tampered with the emergency door.
The Department says the fire was brought under control by the York Park Fire Station.
Meanwhile, the Independent Commission of Investigation and the Denham Town Police have also launched a probe into the fire at Metcalfe Street.
