Bull Bay man found guilty of killing ex-girlfriend

A Home Circuit Court jury deliberated for two hours today before convicting 29-year-old labourer Andre Williams, of Bull Bay, St Andrew of the murder of 22-year-old Trishauna Sewell.
Justice Martin Gayle has put off sentencing for November 8.
The Crown led evidence that the reason for the murder was obsession and jealousy because Sewell, who had a child for Williams, had ended their relationship.
Evidence was given that on the night of March 3, 2009, Williams went to Sewell's home in the Seven Miles community in Bull Bay, St Andrew while she and family members were preparing to go to bed.
Williams entered the premises and opened fire injuring two family members before going into Sewell's bedroom.
Witnesses testified that they heard Williams saying that he had told his ex-girlfriend before that he was going to hurt her.
Shots were fired inside the room and after Williams left, Sewell was found bleeding from a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
Witnesses testified that they knew Williams for several years and they all used to live in the same house at one time.
One of the witnesses said that she pretended to be dead after she was shot.
In an unsworn statement from the dock which lasted five hours, Williams said he did not commit the crime.
He said he was not in the area at the time of the incident.
