Speaking on Independent Talk on Power 106 FM this morning, Bunting said he is hoping the initiative will be up and running by early January 2014.
He says he expects the forum will bring together all stakeholders including politicians, business leaders, civil society groups and community leaders to identify solutions to the crime problem.
After holding murders in check for the first half of the year, the Jamaican police have seen the blood-letting skyrocket just three months into the second half of the year.
Figures contained in the latest Jamaica Constabulary Force periodic serious crimes review show that between July 1 and October 21 there were 409 reported murders island-wide.
In the six-month period between January 1 and June 30 the JCF statistics show that there were 538 reported murders.
