The order was made by Justice Glen Brown in the St Catherine Circuit Court yesterday.
Marvin Douglas was scheduled to be sentenced for manslaughter.
His lawyer Lancelot Clarke Junior then agreed that his client be sentenced in the Supreme Court on November 18.
Douglas, a 37-year-old labourer of Mount View St Catherine was charged with the May 6, 2012 murder of 44-year-old Charmain Duncan.
However, he has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
The woman was reportedly found dead with some 20 stab wounds.
It is being alleged that she was stabbed by the accused during a domestic dispute.
