Mullings promises to eliminate E10 shortage

2008-12-23 09:35:01 | (0 Comments)

Energy Minister Clive Mullings says the ministry has taken steps to eliminate problems with the supply of E10 gasolene to service stations.

There have been complaints from retailers that they have not been receiving enough of the fuel to meet the rising demand.

Yesterday, tanker drivers complained that they were not able to load up on E10.

Mr Mullings says Petrojam is not experiencing a supply problem, but a problem with the pace at which the fuel is being loaded.

He says the ministry has installed a larger motor and has also corrected the problems, which led to yesterday’s delays:

Meanwhile, the energy minister says repairs to the cooling tower, which was destroyed in a recent fire at Petrojam, should be completed by late January.

The fire has affected local ethanol production forcing the ministry to import the ethanol added to the E10 blend.
