Women's rights activist disagree with DPP decision in St. Vincent

Women’s Rights Activist, Flavia Cherry has taken issue with the manner in which the authorities handled the rape allegation against the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonzalves.

The allegations were brought by a female police officer.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Colin Williams dropped the charge against Dr. Gonsalves.

Mr. Williams said he does not believe the allegations will stand up in court. However, Ms. Cherry disagrees with the DPP’s decision.

She said many rape victims do not press charges against their offenders, because of a lack of confidence in the justice system.
