The 69-year-old Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) will stage its annual general meeting this Sunday September 2 at its East Avenue Headquarters in St. Andrew. The high point of this year’s AGM is the election of officers with the more than 400 media practitioners who are members of the PAJ getting the chance to elect the executive body to serve for the next two years.

Sitting president Jenni Campbell, the managing editor of The Gleaner, has indicated that she will offer herself for re-election. There is no indication yet if Ms. Campbell will be challenged but any member in good financial standing can be nominated from the floor.

According to Ms. Campbell: “It is been an honour to serve as the president of the PAJ over the past two years and I am willing to continue to serve if given the chance”. “It has been a challenging two years but it has been satisfying as I believe the present PAJ executive has added to the gains made by immediate past presidents Desmond Richards and Byron Buckley,” Ms. Campbell added.

Several senior media practitioners have indicated an interest in serving on the PAJ executive for the next two years and the election should be interesting come Sunday. The AGM begins at 10:00 with the registration of members.
