Opposition Spokesperson on National Security and Justice Delroy Chuck is today mourning the death of Detective Corporal Warren Campbell of the Organized Crime Investigation Division.

Detective Corporal Campbell who was born in the community Lodge St Catherine and played an integral role in his area, was murdered at his home in Patrick City last night. Detective Corporal Campbell is the first active duty police officer to be murdered since May 2011. His death follows closely on the barbaric killing of retired SSP Tony Hewitt just a few days ago.

Mr. Chuck says: “It’s a dark day in the nation’s history for someone who is a guardian of law and order to be struck down in such a vicious manner. No stone must be left unturned to find the perpetrators of this dastardly act”.

Mr. Chuck further stated that the killing of Detective Corporal Campbell is a grim reminder to the nation of the dangers faced by police everyday both on and off duty. He urged the police not to be daunted as the society is fully behind them.

Mr. Chuck asserted that the gains made in crime fighting must not be lost and the Minister of National Security must use the murder of this police officer as a turning point in tackling the nation's murder problem and must do all in his power to ensure that criminals retreat from their new found confidence.
