Constant Spring Revenue Service Centre stages Small Business Expo

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) | 2012-11-06 00:00:00

The Constant Spring Revenue Service Centre (RSC) will be hosting its quarterly major customer service exposition, on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, under the theme “Empowering Small Businesses for Growth”. The expo, which is free of cost to visitors, will be staged on the lawns of the Constant Spring RSC from 9:00am to 4:00pm. It will provide persons with information relating to tax matters, as well as their rights and responsibilities as taxpayers.

Small businesses, entrepreneurs and the general public will be able to get information on a wide range of services offered by the tax authority to include key presentations being made by TAJ and its partners on:

·         Preparing Tax Returns and Online Filing Option for Business Owners

·         The New Direction of TAJ

·         Marketing Small Businesses

·         Financing Small Businesses

Information and consultations will also be available from partner agencies and companies that will also have display booths, such as:

·         National Housing Trust

·         National Insurance Scheme

·         H.E.A.R.T. Trust/NTA

·         Companies Office Of Jamaica

·         First Heritage Credit Union

·         Scotia Bank

·         Small Business Association of Jamaica

·         Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership (UTECH)

The staging of the expo forms part of a major customer outreach drive by TAJ, as it seeks to educate the public about the wide range of services it offers and recent revenue measures introduced. This strategy is also a key component of the administration’s National Compliance Programme, which focuses in part, on engaging taxpayers through a series of customer service activities, all geared towards sensitizing and maintaining contact with customers.

The ongoing island wide drive, which started earlier this year with outreach programmes across the network of tax offices, goes into communities, business places, schools and homes to talk tax. The new Tax Administration Jamaica has realigned its operations to better service the needs of its clients in this changing economic environment.
