The National Water Commission is advising that a number of its systems in St. Mary are currently out of operation following heavy rainfalls over the weekend. Systems out of operation include: Iterboreale Treatment Plant, Palmetto Grove Treatment Plant Castleton, Rock Spring, Pleasant Hill, Oracabessa, Hamilton Mountain, Trinity, Frontier, Farmers, Boscobel, Canoe Pond, Gibraltar and Agualta Vale Relift Stations.
Conditions which have led to the closure of these systems include one or a combination of the following: blocked intake, turbidity, damaged pipeline or power failure. Customers will therefore have no piped water supply until these problems have been addressed.
The company is reporting that it is providing trucked water, however priority is being given to emergency services.
The National Water Commission sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused and is working assiduously to ensure the earliest restoration of these systems and water supply to its valued customers.
