Hardware & Lumber Limited will be closing its Rapid True Value (RTV), Newport East Branch effective December 31, 2012. The closure comes as part of a review of the branch operations and rationalization to maximize efficiency and use of resources.

In addressing the closure of this branch Mrs. Andrea Coy, CEO of Hardware & Lumber said, “We believe that the closure of this Branch will allow for the most effective deployment of our resources to meet the needs of our customers. Based on our review we are confident that the needs of our customers at the Newport East location can be readily served at any of our 10 other Rapid True Value (“RTV”) locations, particularly our Spanish Town Road, Cross Roads and Portmore locations. The closure of this branch will regrettably result in the displacement of 17 members of staff. Where possible, however, attempts will be made to fill any openings across the network with these employees”.

She went on to express her gratitude to the RTV team members, as well as the loyal customers of RTV Newport East who have supported the company over the years and who the company looks forward to continue to serve through its other convenient locations.
