Yasuo Takase appointed permanent representative of Japan to the International Seabed Authority

On Wednesday, December 5, 2012 His Excellency, Mr. Yasuo Takase called on Secretary General Mr. Nii Allotey Odunton at the International Seabed Authority in Kingston during which he officially presented the Letter of Credence to the Secretary General. During the presentation, Ambassador Takase expressed his sincere wish to work closely with the Authority.

Ambassador Takase’s (36) Thirty-Six-year career service includes numerous diplomatic postings to the USA, Canada, Zambia, Norway, Nigeria, and Tonga. Additionally, he has held the posts of Deputy Director-General and Director for Fisheries and Ocean Affairs, Economic Affairs Bureau- Tokyo, Director-General, Scientific and Technological Cooperation Department, Interchange Association of Japan (Tokyo office).

Most recently, he served as the first resident Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga from March 2009 to October 2012. He also served as the Director of Ocean Division in 1999 and 2000, when he attended the conferences of the Authority representing the Government of Japan.

On May 1, 2012, the Government of Japan established its permanent mission to the International Seabed Authority in Kingston, Jamaica.
