PAJ gets presentation from widow of outstanding journalist

The Press Association of Jamaica was today presented with a cash donation in memory of the work of late veteran journalist, Clarington (C. Roy) Reynolds to mark the first anniversary of his death on August 1, 2012.

The donation in the amount of twenty nine thousand, three hundred dollars ($29, 300.00) was presented at a ceremony at the PAJ’s East Avenue, St. Andrew offices this morning by his widow Beverly Robotham-Reynolds.

The donation represents 5% of the sales of Jamaica 50th Anniversary dolls and plush toys sold by Island Dolls Plus Collections, in which Mr. Reynolds played an integral role.

C. Roy Reynolds whose writing style was highly regarded, wrote for The Gleaner, Twin Citi Sun and The Jamaica Journal.
 
He also worked in broadcasting serving as a news editor at the now defunct Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation and was later an information attaché at the Jamaican Consulate in New York.

He was conferred with the Order of Distinction in 1994 and in 1997 recognized by the PAJ as a Veteran Journalist of the Year.

In accepting the donation, PAJ treasurer Ceila Morgan expressed gratitude on behalf of the association and assured the family of Mr. Reynolds that his work and memory will continue to be honoured by the PAJ.
