In less than a week, the Jamaica Customs Department in a joint operation with the Trans National Crime and Narcotics Division (TCND) seized 76.8lbs of cocaine with a street value of J$73.8M. The contraband which was seized at the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT) was aboard the CFS Pamploma which arrived from Columbia on Wednesday, February 13 destined for Puerto Rico.
At approximately 2:50am today (Thursday, February 14) the shipment was selected for examination. Subsequently, thirty-one (31) packages of the white powdery substance were discovered in three (3) bag packs. The bags with the packages are currently in the possession of the TCND for further investigations. No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure.
In addition, during routine scanning operations of outgoing mails at the Central Sorting Office (CSO) today, an envelope was retrieved for a detailed examination. Examination of the envelope revealed the content to be documents relating to the lottery scam. The envelope and its contents were detained for further investigation.
