UDC to host Emancipendence Jamboree on the Kingston Waterfront

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) will be hosting “Emancipendence Jamboree” on the Kingston Waterfront on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 11:00 am to 3:00pm.

The UDC which is celebrating 45 years of making development since 1968 will collaborate with several organizations in support of the 2013 theme for Emancipation and Independence activities ‘Triumphant, Proud and Free’. Patrons attending the event will have the opportunity to gain information from the UDC regarding investment opportunities and its attractions and event venues.  Persons will also be able to access information on motor vehicle, home and back to school loans. The event will also offer activities for the children inclusive of face painting and rides, cultural entertainment and authentic Jamaican cuisine.

 The UDC is currently spearheading the redevelopment of downtown Kingston and Port Royal through the finalisation of a plan. Stakeholders are being invited to visit the UDC’s website at and share their thoughts via a blog page to further inform this plan.  

The redevelopment of downtown Kingston and Port Royal is aligned with the Vision 2030 Jamaica national development plan which aims to make Jamaica the place of choice to work, live, raise families and do business.
