The Portmore Chapter of Generation 2000, the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), expresses deepest condolences to the wife and family, the Portmore Municipality and to the people of Portmore on the passing of Mayor George Lee. G2K Portmore believes that it is indeed a sad day for the people of Portmore and to anyone who came in contact with Mayor Lee.

“Mayor Lee’s contribution to Portmore and the establishment of Portmore as a Municipality is stellar. It was his contribution that afforded him the opportunity to serve the municipality as the first Mayor on June 19, 2003. We want to thank him for his contribution to Portmore and its development over the years” said Marlon Gordon Chairperson of G2K Portmore.

General Secretary of the chapter Omar Francis remembered the mayor in a good way, saying that among other things the His Worship Mayor George Lee was very accommodative despite sitting on the other side of the political fence. He said “we accompanied Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party and Deputy Leader James Robertson to a Municipal meeting to mark the tenth anniversary of the Municipality and we were treated with much respect from the Mayor and his team.”

Gordon added “we mourn with the rest of Portmore on this the passing of Mayor Lee, while giving thanks that he decided to give of his life in service to Portmore.”
