POINT’s one day conference “Digital Housing” a success

On September 20, 2013 POINT Global Marketing hosted their first digital marketing conference “Digital Housing” at the Mona Visitors Lodge and Conference Centre. This conference targeted 100 CEOs and Marketing Officers of small and medium sized business throughout Jamaica with the goal of assisting them with leveraging digital marketing for innovation within their companies.

POINT skillfully included presenters from different industries – architecture, online media, computing and information technology and non-profit funding – to focus on how different companies are using the digital landscape to increase profits and market share through a wider focus on topics such as Web Presence, Online Reputation Management, Online Marketplaces, Lead generation, Crowd Funding, Big Data and eCommerce.

Presentations were made by Mr. Damian Edmond, Managing Director of FORM Architects, Mr. Javette Nixon, President & CEO of POINT Global Marketing, Mr. Tyrone Wilson, President & CEO of eMedia Interactive Ltd, Ms. Saffrey Brown, General Manager of JNBS Foundation and a keynote from Mr. Ian Rose, Software Client Lead (Jamaica), IBM World Trade Corp.

Participants experienced a live Skype interview between interviewees Mr. Tyrone Wilson, Rachel Osbourne of eMedia Interactive Ltd and interviewer Ms. Dionne Palmer, Incubator Manager at the Technology Innovation Centre, UTECH. The interview highlighted how eMedia has committed themselves totally to the digital technological landscape. Other highlights of the conference were: the launch of Caribbean Housing Network by Mr. Damian Edmond, an explanation of crowd funding and iSupportJamaica by Ms. Saffrey Brown, the importance of harnessing Digital Marketing for profit by Mr. Javette Nixon and how big data can change the way businesses make decisions by Mr. Ian Rose.

Presentations were interactive and well received by all participants. The event was sponsored by Jamaica Yellow Pages, Mona Visitors Lodge & Conference Centre, Manufactures Credit & Information Services (MCIS), DAM GoodBrownies, FORM Architects, Factory 75 and Jamaica Gleaner who delivered a featured message introducing their digital platforms and their new digital integration using the iOS and Android app Layers. Jamaica Public Services and Spherenet Association won JA$50,000 and JA$25,000 respectfully worth of digital advertising courtesy of Jamaica Gleaner.

POINT intends on this being a yearly event and promises greater things next year and the years to come. The next one day conference will take place on Friday September 19, 2014. Following up to the conference, POINT will conduct a series of workshops in Mandeville and Montego Bay and online webinars bimonthly.
