This "Don't Mess With Goat Islands" animated short had its origins in a comment made by the Minister of Transport, Works and Housing, Dr. the Hon. Omar Davies. In early September 2013 Minister Davies referred to 'two likkle lizaad' as not reason enough to derail the plan to put a large transhipment port in the Portland Bight Protected Area (PBPA) near to the Goat Islands. The Portland Bight Protected Area is Jamaica's largest protected area and home to over 370 species of plants and animals, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. Protecting Portland Bight and the Goat Islands is not just about "two likkle lizaad!"
The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) ran a competition in October 2013 on Facebook for a jingle using the words "two likkle lizaad". We then commissioned NivekPro to produce an animated short using the winning entry by Jeremy Ashbourne, Inilek Wilmot and Quecee.
We hope you enjoy "Don't Mess With Goat Islands!"
