Generation 2000, (G2K) the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party today welcomed the appointment of three junior shadow spokespersons by the Leader of the Opposition, Andrew Holness. On January 10, 2014, Holness announced the appointment of former G2K members Marlon Morgan and Duane Smith along with Attorney at Law Pearnel Charles Junior.

"This is a step in the right direction and is in keeping with G2K's lobbying effort for a mentorship framework to be established in the JLP. It is critical that young members of the party are provided with opportunities to gain the requisite experience from the senior members and are exposed to the intricacies of parliamentary procedure while becoming intimately acquainted with portfolio responsibilities." said Floyd Green, president of G2K.

Marlon Morgan, who served as Vice President and Policy and communications chairman of G2K has been appointed to shadow the agriculture portfolio, while Duane Smith who served on the G2K management committee from 2008-2011 has been appointed to shadow ICT and the digital economy.

The organization looks forward to the appointment of the full cohort of junior shadow spokespersons, and wishes the present appointees well as they assist the JLP in preparing to retake the reigns of Government.
