G2K celebrates 14 years

Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), is celebrating its 14th anniversary during the month of February, under the theme “Committed to a better Jamaica".

The celebrations which started with a Church service at the Andrews memorial S.D.A. on Feb 1, 2014, span the entire month of February and  sees the organization hosting a number of events across the country.

“We wanted to ensure that we marked this special occasion with a variety of activities that reaffirm our commitment to creating a better Jamaica. The activities will take place in several parishes so as to engage a wide cross section of our members, and members of the society and the diaspora who share our commitment to creating a better Jamaica" said General Secretary, Lionel Myrie.

The  Organization’s main events include a beach cleaning project, which will be staged at the "Dump up Beach" in Montego Bay on February 8;   a forum on Jamaica’s place in the Caribbean Single Market which is slated for February 18; a blood drive which will be held at the Mico University on the 19th of February and; a ceremony to mark the birth of the Jamaica Labour Party’s founding father, Sir Alexander Bustamante, which will be held on February 24, in Hopewell, Hanover.

“We are determined to stage events that directly impact the lives of our fellow Jamaicans and which seek to remind them that politics is truly about service and representation" concluded Myrie.
