The St. Ann Chapter of Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) visited six schools across the parish in a bid to encourage and reassure students preparing for the GSAT examinations happening. The group also presented the students with well needed tokens to assist in the sitting of the exams including pencils, sharpeners and erasers. The schools visited were Ocho Rios Primary, Chalky Hill All-Age, Golden Grove All-Age, Claremont All-Age, Brittonville All-Age and Tomlinson's Christian Academy.

“Members understand the pressures and stresses that come with preparing for and sitting any set of examinations, with the GSAT being a quite a challenge due to the age of the participants, as such we thought it important for us to give the students a small pep talk about confidence, controlling nerves and suggested a checklist for the exam days” said Farrah Blake, Chairperson of G2K’s St. Ann Chapter.

Acting Principal of Ocho Rios Primary School, Gertrude McFarlane welcomed the initiative and applauded G2K’s effort. “This was indeed a successful intervention and resonated well with the students who expressed appreciation for the visit and said that they felt more relaxed going into their exams”

The initiative was ably supported by, Member of Parliament Shahine Robinson and received strong corporate support from Campbell's Office Supplies and Office Supplies Brokers Limited and Shell - Ocho Rios.
