The annual Jamaica Dental Association (JDA) Convention will be held at the Iberostar Suites Hotel, Montego Bay, February 15-18 2012. This highly anticipated convention provides a forum for the ‘meeting of the minds’ of dentists primarily from Europe, North America, Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. One objective of the convention is to ensure that regional dental practitioners remain on the cutting edge of global advancement in all segments of the profession.

The Dental convention typically attracts speakers who are experts in their field and widely sought after, and this year will be no different.  Notable speakers for this year’s convention include Drs. Cathy Jameson, Ross Nash, Raghunath Puttaiah, Edwina Kidd, Bethany Valachi, Kathryn Harley and Fotinos Panagakos who collectively bring years of experience and expertise.  In addition to the Dental Surgeons in attendance, the convention also provides informative lectures for Dental Hygienists, Technicians and Auxiliaries thus offering an opportunity for all members of the dental team a chance to hone their skills.

The membership of the Jamaican dental fraternity recognizes the importance of staying abreast with new and improved techniques and technology in an effort to provide quality patient care.  Continuing Education is strongly recommended by the Dental Council of Jamaica and as a result, dental surgeons readily seize any opportunity presented to share ideas and their experience.  The annual conference allows for a more intimate setting where dentists can interact with world renown experts and get hands-on guidance in fully understanding intricate procedures.

It is expected that over three hundred (300) dental professionals will converge on Montego Bay in February and the Iberostar Hotel will be buzzing with activities at the 48th staging of the Jamaica Dental Association Annual Convention. As per usual, the great Jamaican hospitality will be on display and the planning team intends to showcase the rich cultural heritage that is synonymous with Jamaica.

For our local practioners, they are reminded that the deadline for early bird registration is this Saturday January 29.
