Twenty six players and officials from Real Caribe Soccer Club of Queens, New York are currently in Jamaica for a ten day visit.  The team which includes members of the 2012 US Adult Soccer Association (USASA) National Under-23 champions and 2013 Region 1 Under-23 champions will participate in three games while on the island.

The team is visiting Jamaica through the instrumentality of the Member of Parliament for Central Clarendon and President of the Humble Lion Football Club, Mike Henry, who says that the visit has been arranged to broaden the horizon for young Jamaican footballers, and to promote sports and community tourism in Jamaica. “This visit owes much to the support given us by the Jamaica Tourist Board, Cemex, Lasco and Tropical Blue Water, as well as our partnership with Phoenix Academy through which we hope to chart new courses for soccer in Jamaica,” Mr. Henry added.

The Real Caribe Soccer Club played a Jamaica Football Federation/Premier League Clubs Association Under-23 team at the National Stadium on June 22. They will next play the Humble Lion Football Club at the Effortville mini stadium on Wednesday, June 25, starting at 7.30 p.m. The final game will be against a Jakes Treasure Beach eleven at Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth on Saturday, June 28 at 4.30 pm.

Mr Henry envisions that the visit will be a worthwhile avenue through which the Humble Lion Football Club will expand its network with clubs outside of Jamaica.

The Real Caribe Soccer Club was founded 1975 in Queens, New York, with players being primarily of West Indian heritage and living in New York. They participated in numerous leagues and tournaments within the metropolitan area, including the New York International League, Fiveboro Soccer League and the Long Island Soccer League.

They won the USASA National Under-23 championships in 2012, and contested for the title in 2013. The team was also the 2013 LISFL Ryder-Vass U23 league champions. That win added to their already successful season, which saw the club repeating as USASA Region 1 Under-23 champions.

The team will leave Jamaica on Monday, June 30.
