Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), says that a new Vice President was elected at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday at the JLP Headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica. The new Vice President, Civil Engineer Steve Edwards, was elected along with three incumbents, namely Corporate Executive Matthew Samuda, Business Man Daryl White and Administrator Ronique Rhoden by the organisation’s central Committee.

Attorney-at-Law Floyd Green, was returned unopposed as President. Green thanked the group for their continued confidence and listed a litany of achievements in giving G2K's Annual Report including the launch of the Hanover Chapter, the revamping of the organisation’s website and social media strategy and the addition of over 500 new members.

JLP Leader the Honourable Andrew Holness in his address to the AGM congratulated G2K on the work they have been doing and challenged them to convince more young persons to opt into the political process by voting. The JLP leader outlined a number of initiatives that the Party plans to implement to specially target the issue of youth employment upon returning to government including a comprehensive apprenticeship program.

The Opposition leader also commended the members of the G2K who have stepped up to political representation and restated his mission “to find candidates who represent a change in our politics and who truly represent the people and not themselves”

The meeting was also addressed by Past President Delano Seiveright, former G2K General Secretary Collin Virgo and Caretaker for East Central St. Catherine, Alando Terrelonge.
