Top Jamaican rally crews Jeffrey Panton/Mike Fennell and Gary Gregg/Hugh Hutchinson are slated to enter the 9th installment of Rally Trinidad, starting on Friday night, March 30 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium with 2 stages around the complex. Saturday morning sees the crews head out to the gravel roads for 2 days of hard rallying before finishing at Saith Park, Chaguanas on Sunday, April 1 with a road stage through the town.

Many time Jamaican December rally winner and defending Rally Trinidad champion Jeffrey Panton has acquired a 2006 Ford Focus World rally Car, previously driven by Marcus Gronholm and Matthew Wilson in the World Rally Championship, after parting with his 2000 spec machine of similar origin that saw action in the hands of the likes of the great Colin McRae and Jarri Matti Latvala . The newer version has been campaigned since it left the M Sport factory team by Rene Kuipers of Ipatec Racing from the Netherlands. Panton has never actually seen nor driven the car, but a pre-event test is set up for Thursday morning before the event.

Gary Gregg and experienced co-driver Hugh Hutchinson will be behind the wheel of their 2005 spec Ford Focus WRC with which has brought them success at Rally Jamaica and Rally Barbados before. The team had failed to complete last year’s event after an off road excursion and are seeking to redeem themselves on the fast, dusty stages of Trinidad’s premier rally event.
