NCB supports the University Diabetes Outreach Programme’s Annual International Conference

“We at the National Commercial Bank (NCB) firmly believe that all employees should enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health,” Patrick Hylton stated. It is with this critical focus on employee wellness and engagement that Patrick Hylton, Group Managing Director of the National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) has been invited to bring the opening address at the University Diabetes Outreach Programme’s (UDOP) 18th Annual International Conference.

The conference is set to run from Thursday, March 29 to Sunday, April 1 at the Sunset Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios. This Conference is being staged in the year of Jamaica’s 50th Independence Anniversary to
highlight a wholistic overview of the disease and the wide array of interventions being employed to contain its adverse outcomes.

“It is imperative that primary prevention of health problems should be given priority; and the workplace should serve as a setting for public health promotions and interventions,” Hylton stated. “In addition, activities related to employee’s health should be planned, promoted and implemented with a view to reducing health risks among employees.” Since 2007, NCB has built a formidable alliance with the Ministry of Health, and other health
care practitioners to provide added benefits to their employees and have implemented policies for HIV/AIDS, Communicable Diseases and Occupational Safety and Health.

Since then, NCB have received two awards from the Ministry of Labour for their employee wellness initiatives – the Gold Award for HIV & AIDS Voluntary Compliance and a Bronze Award for the Voluntary Compliance Programme of the Occupational Safety and Health Department. “We will continue to improve our internal wellness programmes, to ensure that our employees are in the best of health and can carry out their duties to the best of their ability,” expressed Mr. Hylton. “In addition, we will continue to support health communication and development in the
wider society.”

Mr. Hylton will bring the Opening Address at the 18th Annual International Conference, onbehalf of the University Diabetes Outreach Programme (UDOP) on Thursday, March 29 at the Sunset Jamaica Grande. In addition, Rickert Allen, Senior General Manager, NCB Group Human Resources, will address participants of the seminar on - The link between employees’ wellness, morale, commitment, productivity and a healthy bottom-line on Friday, March 30.
