The Hon. Arnaldo Brown, MP and Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade (MFAFT), leaves the island tomorrow (Wednesday, 28, March) for an official trip to Georgetown Guyana, where he will participate in the Thirty-Fourth Meeting of the CARICOM Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED).
The State Minister heads a delegation comprising of officials from the MFAFT, the Ministry of Industry Investment and Commerce (MIIC) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF).
Among the issues to be discussed are: free movement and the facilitation of trade, under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME); recommendations for alleviating the effects of rising fuel and commodity prices; the negotiations for a CARICOM-Canada Trade and Development Agreement and the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
Immediately following the COTED, also in Guyana, there will be a meeting of the CARICOM-USA Trade & Investment Council (TIC) – the forum within which CARICOM & the USA engage on trade and economic issues.
The State Minister is scheduled to return on the weekend.
