Driving ongoing efficiencies whilst ensuring service excellence

Kingston, Jamaica – Thursday 12th April 2012. Digicel is today announcing a re-opening of its Voluntary Separation Programme for its Jamaica-based staff.
The Voluntary Separation Programme is being re-opened based on Digicel’s ongoing focus on driving efficiencies coupled with delivering optimum business performance, the need to realign the organisation following the integration of the Claro customer base and operations and requests from staff.

The move comes as Digicel evolves from being a pure mobile service provider into a full service converged communications provider - offering customers everything from 4G Mobile, cloud computing and datacentre services and, in the future, mobile financial services - and looks to ensure that it has the right people with the right skills in the right jobs.
The enhanced terms of the Voluntary Separation Programme allow employees who may be considering a career change or lifestyle change to leave the company voluntarily while receiving additional financial support and benefits.
First offered successfully to Digicel staff in 2009 and praised as an innovative and generous employee programme, Digicel’s Voluntary Separation Programme sees permanent, temporary and part-time Digicel employees being eligible to receive enhanced packages based on years of service as well as extended health cover, pro rata bonuses and career change advisory sessions.
Mark Linehan, Digicel Jamaica CEO, comments; “Since launching here in Jamaica in 2001, our business has grown and developed hugely. From our origins as a pure mobile service provider, today we are evolving into a full service converged communications provider.
“With progress comes change – but our commitment to delivering an excellent service to our valued customers remains the same. Now is the time to review our operations to ensure we are well positioned to meet the opportunities that are ahead of us and that we have the right people with the right skills in the right jobs.”
