Ministry of Education | 2015-08-27 00:00:00

It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Education joins the education fraternity in mourning the recent passing of education stalwart Dr. Dorothy Raymond OD.

She was a true leader and trail blazer whose skills, tenacity and amiable persona made her the ideal candidate for various capacities in the education sector.  These include first female President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) Credit Union, President of the JTA, and Principal of Dupont Primary.

A consummate professional, Dr Raymond will always be remembered for touching the lives of many students, teachers and parents in the school community, and providing welfare and development opportunities for educators.

In paying tribute to Dr Raymond, Education Minister Ronald Thwaites described her as a visionary, team leader and optimistic person who was passionate about the transformation of the education sector and providing opportunities for a better school environment. He said her exemplary service and contribution to the education sector will always be remembered by those who continue to carry on her legacy and vision.
