The Choir,” Powerful, Life Transforming Film for Jamaica!

EUROPEAN UNION | 2012-05-03 09:34:00

Is the vilest of prisoner beyond redemption?  Is there hope for the notorious prisoner?  These and other questions may be answered in the powerful and moving film, “The Choir,” (rated PG – 13) scheduled for showing shortly in Jamaica.  This triumphant yet heart rending story is about a group of fellow inmates who battle to survive the odds in South Africa’s largest prison.

"It is a movie which can't leave audiences indifferent. It appeals to universal values and shows the difference that an inspirational leader and the power of music can make in the emancipation of young people until then without hope and sense of direction." declared Paola Amadei, Head of the EU Delegation.

“You will be moved, you will be touched and many will relate”, says Mathu Joyini, South Africa’s High Commissioner.

Jamaica’s showing of “The Choir” is organized by the Delegation of the European Union and the South African High Commission.  The public is invited to see this intriguing drama free of cost at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston on the following days:

May 10, 2012 (schools and youth groups) at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm
May 14, 2012 at 6:00 pm
May 15, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Admission to these public shows is by complimentary tickets only and these tickets are available at the Captain’s Bakery (Cross Roads).

The Delegation of the European Union and the South African High Commission also plan to show this film to selected groups of prison inmates as part of the Government of Jamaica’s prisoner rehabilitation programme.
