Forty-four members of the Caribbean Community of Retired Persons (CCRP) had an enjoyable and refreshing outing to the Milk River Hotel and Spa in Clarendon on Sunday, October 4.  Arriving at 11am, they lost no time in plunging into the mineral pool, the main reason for their visit. Milk River is one of the best mineral baths in the world, being more radioactive than leading European spas.  It is reputed to cure numerous ailments including rheumatism, gout and neuralgia.

The seniors toured the hotel, while some took another dip in the private pools.  This was followed by “a splendid brunch,” in the words of the CCRP’s Angela Foote who, along with Dorett Linton, coordinated the event.  She had special thanks for the hotel’s hospitable manager, Diane Sommerville.

Present for the occasion were CCRP Board members Jean Lowrie-Chin, Carmen Chen and Dennis Jones.  Board members of the Milk River Spa, Scarlette Gillings and Guyan Arscott were present as well.

Members were entertained by the Rockstone Mento Band, which they thoroughly enjoyed as they danced along to the music. CCRP member and aromatherapist, Donna Singh, brought along her aromatherapy oils and gave fellow members body massages.

“It was a day well spent,” says CCRP Director, Dennis Jones. “We had wonderful company, good fellowship augmented by soothing waters.”
