Four final year Engineering students from the University of Technology (UTECH) were last week awarded bursaries funded by FLOW through its Foundation totalling $320,000.

The students: Wardlan Borah who is pursuing a diploma in Electrical Engineering; Dimitri Harding who is seeking a BSc in Computer Science; Ayshahvez Konowalchuk, reading for his BSc in Computer Science; and Jerome Reid who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Each student received $80,000 following recommendations from UTECH based on academic performance and financial need.

During a brief presentation at the University, Executive Chairman of the Foundation, Errol Miller, encouraged the students to continue aiming for the highest and to use the knowledge they acquire to be benefit of Jamaica. He added that FLOW was delighted to be able to provide assistance to four very talented young Jamaicans.

“As a company we are happy to invest in the talent of these young persons who will go on to literally shape Jamaica and the world through their professional discipline in the future” said Miller.

Head of The School of Engineering, Dr. Noel Brown, thanked the Foundation on behalf of the students. Dr. Brown noted that the assistance was well needed and would make sure that the students had one less thing to worry about at this critical period of their studies.

In 2014, the Foundation presented fiver scholarships to mark its 10th anniversary, to tertiary level students pursuing studies related to the telecommunication sector. The latest presentation to UTECH represents a continuation of the support for education in Jamaica.
