Contractor General’s assessment of National Heroes Park perimeter fence contract

MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND WORKS | 2016-02-01 00:00:00

Following various spurious allegations made by Generation 2000 (G2K) concerning award of the contract for the erection of a perimeter fence at the National Heroes Park, I requested that the Office of the Contractor General carry out a full probe of the process leading to the award of the contract to Black Brothers Incorporated Limited.

I am pleased that the Office of the Contractor General, after carrying out a comprehensive review of the process, “has found and concludes that the process was fair, transparent and consistent with the tender document and in keeping with the applicable Government of Jamaica Handbook of Public Sector Procurement Procedures”.  The OCG added that “the requisite approvals from the NCC and the Cabinet were obtained in keeping with established procurement procedures”.

I hope that Mr Samuda and G2K, in light of the publicity given to their spurious allegations, will now do the right thing and tender a public apology.
