Holness meets with Governor-General

This morning Prime Minister-Elect, Andrew Holness, met with the Governor-General to discuss arrangements for the transition of government.

Further actions taken by Mr. Holness this morning include his having requested a briefing from the Financial Secretary in respect of the state of Jamaica's economy, seeking from the outgoing Minister of Finance a briefing regarding the last proposed budget and matters related to the IMF Agreement, and requesting a briefing from the Cabinet Secretary to ensure that matters are transitioned appropriately and effectively. 

Regarding the Programme of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), it should be noted that Mr. Holness has already spoken with Mr. Bert Van Selm, IMF Resident Representative, and that a meeting is being scheduled between the IMF and the new government's financial team for next week.
