NSWMA reports on fire at Haddon Disposal Site

The NEPM Waste Management Limited through the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) advises that a fire occurred at Haddon Disposal Site in Moneague St. Ann last evening.

The Regional response team and the Jamaica Fire Brigade were quick on the scene and worked assiduously to extinguish the fire. The team is currently working on eliminating the smoke at the affected section of the Disposal Site and we assure the public that all measures are in place to deal with this situation.

The Minister of Local Government and Community Development Honourable Desmond McKenzie was advised and has since updated the Honourable Prime Minister and Cabinet about the situation, and also disclosed the plan of action for cooling down activities.

The Regional team and the NSWMA apologize for any inconvenience caused, and a detailed update will be provided as soon as a full assessment is carried out by the Operations team, which is currently at the site.
