NSWMA responds to complaints-noncollection of solid waste

National Solid Waste Management Authority | 2016-06-16 00:00:00

The Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Honourable Desmond McKenzie met with the NSWMA management team earlier today to address media reports and complaints from citizens about non-collection of solid waste resulting in backlog in some parishes and communities.

Coming out of the meeting, the decisions are:
1. To use additional units to supplement the existing trucks in the regions,
2. To increase the frequency of collection especially in Town Centres, and
3. Night collection in areas/communities deemed safe.

To fully execute the plan, we are asking for the assistance of truck owners (garbage and other types); they may contact us at 480 5329, 448 3220, 855 1245, 1 888 253 2652 or email at nswma1876@gmail.com.

These changes are deemed necessary to fully address the challenges and we ask for the public’s patience as we work to resolve them. We sincerely apologize for the delay in collection of solid waste and assure the public that all steps are being taken to safeguard public health.
