Opposition Leader Andrew Holness has written to Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller, expressing grave concerns in relation to the celebration of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary.
Mr. Holness stated that: “Plans for the celebration of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary celebrations may not have the desired introspective, yet unifying and jubilant effect on Jamaicans at home and abroad” and advised that: “...absence of national accord on the various activities as proposed should not be allowed to continue".
The Opposition Leader proposed to Mrs. Simpson-Miller that both meet as a matter of urgency to discuss: “an approach to bring some sense of national unity to this momentous occasion”.
