The Jamaica Association of Transport Owners and Operators (JATOO) said the reduction in fatal crashes since the start of the year is a reflection of the hard work of the several agencies and organizations engaged in the prevention of these incidents such as the Road safety unit and the Public Traffic Department.
While more can be done by these groups, theymust be commended for the work that they are doing to give a 30% drop in the post six (6) when compared to last year.
Our aim is to ensure 50m less fatal crashes in 2012 in observation of Jamaica 50thAnniversary. Road Safety will be
a Major subject for discussion at our upcoming Transport Conference set for August 16 2012.
Jatoo is calling on the private sector to invest in Road Safety Prevention by facilitating the establishment of C.C.T.V. instrument at major intersection and high ways, across the island to reduce speeding and reckless driving.
