Folly Road in Port Antonio to be closed for repairs to drainage

National Works Agency | 2018-12-17 11:26:00

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public that a section of Folly Road, in the vicinity of East Palm Avenue in Port Antonio, Portland, will be closed at 10:00 pm on Thursday, December 13, 2018. The corridor which is now open to only single lane traffic due to a damaged culvert will be closed until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that the agency will be replacing the failed culvert and that the works will begin on Thursday morning. The work will however be restricted to the now impassable section of the road in order to prepare for the full closure of the corridor at 10:00 p.m.

Mr. Shaw says that there is no suitable alternative to this section of road and is therefore advising persons who would normally travel between Port Antonio and the community of Dolphin Bay to schedule such trips either before or after the road closure.

He says that the NWA will be working to ensure that the corridor is reopened to the motoring public as soon as the new drainage feature is installed.
