TRANSPORT CONFERENCE INTENDED FOR 2019

MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND WORKS | 2019-01-02 11:30:00

In light of the passage of the New Road Traffic Act, the Ministry of Transport and
Mining is planning to have a national conference for the public passenger sector.
All stakeholders in the transport industry will be invited and encouraged to
participate.
Transport and Mining Minister, Honourable Robert Montague, in his drive to
foster greater communication in the sector, stated “It is full time we sit down and
provide viable solutions for this essential service. We have to share our ideas and
work together to revolutionize the industry”.
Points for discussion include the recently passed Road Traffic Act, retooling of the
industry, licensing, insurance and banking rates, as well as consolidation of fees,
discipline, road fatalities, shortness of drivers, uniforms and wrecking of vehicles,
among other issues.
The Transport Ministry intends to have similar meetings at intervals in order to
have a better account and input from this particular group of service providers.
