Lisa Hanna, Minister of Youth and Culture visited the LIME headquarters in Kingston today ( July 11) to participate in a symbolic ‘ pinning’ ceremony of LIME staff members lead by Managing Director, Garry Sinclair.
LIME, a global sponsor of the national Independence festivities, is the first corporate company to outwardly pledge support for the ‘Pin of Pride’ initiative intended to distribute 1 million commemorative pins to Jamaicans across the globe as a symbol of national patriotism. The telecoms company has purchased a special pin for each of its over 1200 staff members and will also merchandise the pins in its retail outlets and selected dealers across the island.
“LIME has truly demonstrated its commitment to Jamaica through this move. We are also very happy to have LIME on board as a partner in taking Jamaica to the world in a very significant way for our birthday” the Minister said.
“This year we will take Jamaica and live Jamaican content to the world for the very first time and LIME is a key partner in making it happen” she added.
Sinclair, who commended Hanna for her efforts, highlighted the company’s dedication to help Jamaicans celebrate this significant milestone.
“As the only network which has shared Jamaica’s history, we are duty bound to use our technology and resources to usher Jamaica into the next fifty years.”
Over the next few weeks, Sinclair also hinted that LIME customers can expect surprises in stores as the company rolls out the next phase of its Olympic and Independence campaign.
LIME branded’ Jamaica 50’ bags, caps and jackets are among a series of specially ordered items which will be offered by the company.
