Online courses What Works in Education: Evidence-Based Education Policies and Climate Change Education are now open for enrollment in the edX platform.

These Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) give Caribbean professionals and students the opportunity to learn from international educational experts though interactive learning tools.
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has launched two free online courses targeted at education professionals and students from the Caribbean who are interested in improving their knowledge with classes and interactive learning materials developed by international experts. The courses are free of charge, require an effort of 3 to 5 hours per week, and are available on the edX website -the online learning platform developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Students also can add a verified certificate for US$25.

The first course, What Works in Education: Evidence-Based Education Policies, allows students to learn what elements contribute to successful education and how to identify, analyze and implement evidence-based education policies that improve learning in different settings. The course centers around key features common to successful education systems like high-quality early childhood and preschool development programs, effective teaching methodologies, and the development of the skills needed for students to achieve their full potential in the professional world.

The second course, Climate Change Education, allows teachers and other education professionals to learn how to work with students to help them explore climate change through the use of interactive and engaging activities designed for students at the primary and secondary levels. The courses cover the basic science behind climate change, the main social and ethical issues related to climate change as well as how to use games, debates, experiments, theater and other tools to support and enhance learning.
