: Telecoms provider, LIME has joined the South African High Commission in Jamaica and millions throughout the continent of Africa in celebrating the birth of former South African President, Nelson Mandela - one of the world’s greatest advocates and examples of selflessness.
Announcing its role in the celebrations which commence on July 11, Grace Silvera LIME’s Regional VP of Marketing and Communications explained the reason for her company’s involvement saying “In this our 50th year of Independence, we salute our own achievements and icons and also take great pride in saluting a legend and a people that have had great impact on our nation. We are also humbled to be able to pay tribute to this great leader through a series of philanthropic efforts which will be led by our LIME staff members.”
Mandela has spent over 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of his people and this important number will lead the activities for the LIME group. LIME staff will visit seven selected Children’s Homes across the island where they will treat and spend quality time with the children for 67 minutes.
A ‘Mandela’ donation text-line has been established from which proceeds will be donated to a charity chosen by the South Africa High Commission. LIME customers are invited to text MANDELA to 444-4267 at a cost of $67, and will have from July 11 – August 31 to get involved in this worthy cause.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation has requested that people globally devote 67 minutes of their time to helping others as a way to mark Nelson Mandela International Day celebrated on the 18th of July. People can also visit The Nelson Mandela Foundation website at www.mandeladay.com for 67 recommended ways of action to get involved in public service on this important day.
