The National Task Force Against Trafficking in Persons (NATFATIP), has received yet another much needed donation to boost their crime fighting efforts. For the third consecutive year, a donation of One Million Jamaican dollars to assist in the fight against human trafficking and more specifically to bolster investigation of suspected cases of trafficking, especially child trafficking cases, was handed over today.

The cheque was handed over by President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) Mr. Omar Robinson and will go directly to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) and the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s anti-TIP Vice Squad; branches of the JCF which have responsibility for crimes which fall under the sphere of human trafficking.

Chair of NATFATIP and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology, Mrs. Carol Palmer, who received the cheque on behalf of NATFATIP, was impassioned in her plea for a greater national response to protect and secure the nation’s children. Mrs. Palmer also expressed gratitude to partners who have been beneficial to the fight against human trafficking, lauding the police force who she described as cooperative, as well as JHTA whose partnership and donations over the past three years has helped to strengthen NATFATIP’s activities.
