The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) mourns the loss of yet another child by the hands of criminals.  Eight year old Shante Skyers, who went missing on April 11, was yesterday found dead in Sterling Castle, St. Andrew by a team of search and rescue personnel.

CEO of the CPFSA, Mrs. Rosalee Gage-Grey after receiving the information from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), informed that the agency was hoping for a favourable outcome.

“We have been in dialogue with Shante's family, but there really are no words to comfort a grieving mom. So we continue to pray for, and support the family. A team of first responders has also been briefed to provide additional counselling support as needed.

Through our Ananda Alert programme we forge alliances with the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), Missing Person Call Centre (MPCC) and media houses in publicizing information on missing and recovered children. This information is disseminated in the form of a press release and sharing on social media,” she said.

The CPFSA commends community members as well as the search and rescue team for their swift actions. The Agency continues to call for every Jamaican to take action, and be more vigilant in the care and protection of the nation's children.

The CPFSA expresses deepest sympathies to the family, friends and classmates of Shante and encourages persons who know any information to come forward and assist the police with their investigations.
