Habibi Latino - fine dining, Arabian style
If you can't get to the east, physically, your taste buds will have to do the travelling.
That's what awaits you at Habibi Latino, the Arabian restaurant with a Latin flavour. Owner Abdul Elkhalili promises that "we will be adding some stuff" for RW, but he is keeping his cards close. Two things that will definitely not change are the decor (the tent always gives that authentic Arabian mystique) and the service.
"With our young ladies (staff), it's always service with a smile," says Mercedes Elkhalili, co-owner.
Popular dishes include the Habibi Latino Mix (a favourite among the entrées) and the ceviche (a tasty appetiser). The owners rave about the restaurant's comparatively low prices and the quantity customers can expect. For example, the aforementioned entrée which has three different meats in it. Mr Elkhalili also points out that their dishes are all charcoal grilled, not fried, hence it's healthy food.
Nestled in the food haven of The Market Place, the parking is better than its former home in New Kingston. Now in RW for the fourth year, it always helps in getting the word out.
"Any extra exposure is good," says Mrs Elkhalili; not that Habibi needed it, being a popular restaurant since its Knutsford Boulevard location days. In fact, it was the increased demand that helped prompt the move. So pack up the taste buds and head east.
