being in what they perceive as a man’s world. “I was

interested in auto parts, and although it was a

challenge for me, it was something new, so I said,

Alright, ‘everybody think that auto parts is a man’s

thing, but I am interested in learning about it’.”

Over the years, the organisation’s staff-

engagement activities have made Lindo a happy

staffer. She recalls, “We used to go on family trips

and have Christmas parties each year. Those were

fun days.”

She remains a dedicated employee for many

reasons but none comparing to the admiration she

holds for the working environment at Bert’s and

the relationship between management and staff.

“It’s not just the work, it’s the people. And, from

you are working amongst good people, you have

no problem,” she said.

About CEO Bert Tomlinson, she said, “Tomlinson is

a nice person, and you can talk to him. He is a

serious businessman, and he knows his stuff. Any

little problem that we have, we can go to him and

talk to him.”

“The company is growing,” she said. “We have

survived this long, and with good management,

good leadership, and a good team, we can

continue on this path.”
