N LABOUR Day, May

23, 2017, approximately

50 Factories Corporation

of Jamaica (FCJ) staff and

volunteers participated in the

FCJ’s inaugural Labour Day

project - A Labour of Hope - at

the Annie Dawson Home for

Children, to improve the lives of

these wards of the state.

The 23 special needs girls,

some of whom have been

neglected and/or abused, were

fêted with gifts. They also

participated in grooming

activities, such as combing of the

hair and being educated on

proper dental practices etc.

FCJ, in collaboration with

Edge Chem and other corporate

sponsors, built out a play area for

the girls; retrofitted a storage

room with shelving to store

chemicals; painted and

decorated their

recreational/laundry/dining

room; replaced two damaged

doors; and rewired and installed

energy-saving bulbs, among

other things.
