It is also a time to look to the future. As Jamaica celebrates 58 years, the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) is proud to celebrate this milestone with our Jamaican children and families. Independence is about the Jamaican family, it’s about recognizing our similarities and celebrating our shared experiences; things that make us Jamaican. As we reflect on the past years we must recognize our founding fathers who were willing to fight for the freedom we enjoy today. This freedom extends to our children. Over the past 15 years, Jamaica has make strides in formulating groundbreaking principles and policies to build and strengthen families. We therefore renew the call for action from every Jamaican to re-energize the concept of the community raising a child; this can only be achieved if we work together in ensuring that the rights of our children are upheld. The Jamaica we want for our children and their children is one that perpetually rises – producing educational opportunities, and communities free of violence and child abuse. Celebrating Jamaica at 58 AS WE celebrate another milestone in the independence of our Country, we give thanks for fifty-eight years as an independent Nation. We have achieved much in our development creating new opportunities for growth while simultaneously improving the quality of life. The Administrator-General’s Department continues to play its part by ensuring that individuals who have died intestate (without a will) leaving minor children and assets to administer, will always have a place to go for assistance. In this celebration of Independence, let it be a time of reflection and thanksgiving for all that we have accomplished over the last 58 years.
